Connecticut School Killings - a sign of the times

Last Friday news broke across the world of the latest in the wave of violence happening in the world and put Newton, Connecticut on the lips of many people who would have never heard of this small town. The killings of so many small children shocked many people and this tragedy during this Christmas season will have many  people shaken in their faith. Maybe that's what was intended by what ever evil forces they were at play with the timing of this tragic event.

Not so well published was the death of 10 Afghan girls killed by a landmine in Afghanistan over the same weekend.

Young lives just as valued by their parents and just as tragic that they were killed by another human being while doing their normal daily activities. Both just as tragic and deserving equal attention for your prayers and thoughts.

I can not for the life of me give any meaning or reason to these deaths as they are far beyond my understanding. Suffice to say that we made this world that we live in and we will need to face the consequences of the decisions that we made. For now, all I can offer is a prayer for comfort for the families of those who have been lost and a prayer that we will actually have the courage to make the hard choices so that this does not happen again. We can only pray for this.

But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven. - Matthew 19:14

But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness...

"But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well" (Matthew 6:33).

It is really hard to be focused and concentrate of the right things so that we are heading in this direction. But if it was easy then every body would do it. As we know not all of us are able to do this. There are a lot of things that we know we should do and is good for us but somehow we never do it or never do it often enough.

God expects us not to compromise. He has given us so much blessings and if you take a wider view of life, these are only little things that God expects from us in return. How can we not put God first ?

Lets review ourselves and work towards a better relationship with God.

Matthew 17:27 Go to the lake and throw out your line...

Matthew 17:27

"Go to the lake and throw out your line. Take the first fish you catch; open its mouth and you will find a four-drachma coin. Take it and give it to them for My tax and yours."

God provides in so many ways...
As it was in the Bible, when Peter ask how to pay the tax man...Jesus asked him to go to the lake and catch the fish who in turn will have sufficient funds in it to pay the tax. This would seem to be an odd way to provide for a need but it definately would be remembered !

Do you remember the fish that God provided for you...?

My God will meet all your needs - Philippians 4:19

"My God will meet all your needs" (Philippians 4:19), and "with God all things are possible" (Matthew 19:26). He wants us to love Him and trust Him to provide!

Does that promise make you humble that someone would care for you so much ? Imagine someone will always be there for you, to take care of you and to watch over you.

Who would do that for you ?

This simple phrases are really inspiring and so full or promise. In my life, there are so  many instances of this. Sometimes I feel that I do take it for granted. It is so easy to do. So we should keep reminding ourselves that every thing is a gift from God and we should share the gifts that he has given.

Matthew 24:7 Earthquakes and End of Days

Matthew 24:7 Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places.

With the earthquakes in Japan and now Indonesia yesterday, there have been a lot of talk on the end times.  Lets put these news in perspective. There are earthquakes going on daily, it is just that we only hear of the big ones 7.0 and above.

OK so if the end times or end of days is coming...what does the end times mean to you ? What is the impact that it happens tomorrow or next week or next month ? Will you do anything differently ?

Personally I feel that we focus too much on the end times and we loose sight of the present, and what we have to do now. We should concentrate on the things we can do today and do it now. The end times will come when the time comes. What we have done has gone into record, what we do today will contribute tomorrow. What we plan to do tomorrow may not come to pass. No matter how you worry about the end of days, it will not make that day come any sooner and you cannot defer that day. Live your life as best as you can and be true to the word of God.

God's will

"This, then, is how you should pray: 'Our Father in Heaven, hallowed be Your name, Your Kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven'" (Matthew 6:9-10).

Our burdens sometimes seem so overwhelming and we think that we are unable to bear. Jesus knew his destiny on the cross and accepted the path he had to take. Should we do any less ? It seems easy to say, but what ever each of us face in our daily lives, we know the weight that we bear. God also knows and has promised that we will not face more then we can bear.

When it seems darkest, we need to give thanks for without the darkness, we cannot appreciate the light and the blessings that God gives us. So in that darkest moment, give thanks for the trials and the weight placed upon you so that you can recognize the light and blessings given to you.

Prophecy -Matthew 1:22-23

"All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: "The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel" --which means, "God with us.""— Matthew 1:22-23 (NIV)

Happy Thanksgiving !

Wishing all my friends a Happy Thanksgiving.

We should have Thanksgiving every day
For all the blessings we receive.
From the small blessings of safety, a home and plenty to eat
To the larger ones

Thank you God for giving provisions to us every day.

Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is life not more important than food and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life.

Sayings

Whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who builds his house on the rock.
